Sustainability report 2026
Sustainability Commitment
The Management and the staff of the hotel are committed to operate in an environmentally responsible and socially conscious manner, having established a series of practices and initiatives aimed at reducing the hotel's environmental footprint, conserving natural resources, supporting the local community and providing a positive guest experience.
Key components
Environmental Conservation:
Energy Efficiency: Implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices to reduce electricity and cooling consumption.
Water Conservation: Implementing water reducing technologies and educating staff on responsible water use.
Waste Reduction: Reducing, recycling, and properly disposing of waste materials to minimize environmental impact.
Sustainable Sourcing:
Locally Sourced Products: Purchasing food and products from local suppliers to support the local economy and reduce transportation-related emissions.
Minimizing single use plastic: Use of partially recycled plastic bottles only in the pool area where glass is forbidden. Water dispenser in the lobby area and glass bottles in the rooms.
Community Engagement:
Supporting Local Communities: Engaging in community initiatives, such as job creation, cultural preservation, and philanthropic efforts.
Social Responsibility: Promoting fair labor practices, diversity and inclusion, and employee well-being.
Protecting Children: Engaging in protecting children and their rights and continually train employers on how to recognise child exploitation and how to react. No offending action against children by any staff member or guest is accepted in our hotel.
Conservation Education:
Guest Education: Providing information to guests about sustainability efforts, encouraging responsible behaviors during their stay.
Staff Training: Training employees on sustainable practices and customer service.
We continuously improve and regularly monitor our progress in order to have the best results.
Our report
Water
During 2025 we managed to keep a stable low consumption of 0,14 m3 per guest night, same number as 2024. We monitor regularly our consumption, checking all devices that use water that work properly and choosing plants that do not need a lot of watering. In the pool area we mop daily and clean with running water only once per week, in order to minimize water consumption.
We have been informed by the local water authority that there is water shortage in the area, especially during summer season and for that reason we try to follow a very specific plan and find alternatives in our cleaning routine. The target for 2026 is to lower the number to 0,13 m3 per guest night.
Energy
During 2025 there was a decrease in energy consumption per guest night, 6 KWH compared to 6,94 KWH per guest night in 2024. Our target of 6,40 KWH for 2025 was surely surpassed. This was due to the change in the broken AC sensors that were not turning off the AC while the balcony door was open and due to the strict control we have on the key cards that should not remain in the room with AC on, while the client is away. The staff is continuously trained on energy conservation practices and we try to inspire our guests to follow this practice. The target of 2026 is to maintain the consumption of 6KWH per guest night.
Emissions
In 2024 we started monitoring our emissions, including waste, hazardous substances, single use plastics and high emission food. In 2025 the number of average emissions per guest night was 2,30kg, compared to 2,80kg CO2e per guest night in 2024. This is due to the decrease in energy consumption. The target for 2026 is 2,20kg CO2e.
Waste and Recycling
The single use plastics were decreased from 16611 items in 2024 to 11335 items in 2025 (decrease of 31%). This was mainly due to the fact that we stopped purchasing plastic bottles in the bar. We placed water dispenser in the lobby where people can fill in with water the glass bottles we placed in every room. In 2026 we plan to maintain the low numbers and find an alternative in the plastic bottles of the pool area (partially recycled or tetrapack ) and check on replacing soaps in single use plastic with soap dispenser. However this might need further investigation and bring results in 2027. For recycling, we use a local company (KOS RECYCLE) that transfers all our plastics directly to the recycling company, in order to be sure that everything will be managed properly.
Human resourcing
We continually promote a diverse and inclusive workplace where employees from different backgrounds and experiences are respected and valued.
We conduct regular surveys and feedback sessions to understand staff concerns, suggestions, and areas for improvement.
We encourage and support employees' involvement in community service or volunteer opportunities.
Local Community
In 2025 we supported financially a local athlete on the autism spectrum to take part in a Bicycle Long Distance World Cup in Italy. His achievements made all of us very proud. Furniture's donation to the installed Greek Army on the island, local schools and archaeological sites. Bus Time schedules for promoting the local villages and towns. Promoting local shops and restaurants
Goals for 2026
Reduce single use plastics by 5%.
Arrange a park cleanup event at the end of season, including management and staff.
Exploring alternatives for less packaging and single use plastics in soaps.
We invite our stakeholders to support us in achieving our targets.
